Outreach

Yunah Hong has been presenting the documentary and giving lectures at the universities since she was working on it in 2002.  The program consists of an introduction, showing the documentary and Q&A.  It features discussion about a woman’s life, biography, history of Asian American, Chinese exclusion act of 1882, silent film, transition period between silent film and talkie film, European films in the 1920s, production codes of the 1930s, production of MGM’s “The Good Earth”, Hollywood in the 1920s and the 1930s, and history of Asian American actors.

The documentary is about 60 minutes and the total presentation could be up to 90 minutes.  Also, she can give 60 minutes of lecture about Anna May Wong’s career and life, and 60 minutes of screening.  The total presentation could be up to 120 minutes.   The documentary can be also shown with “Becoming an actress in New York”, Hong’s short documentary which is about young Asian American actors, is 40 minutes.  The total presentation could be up to 120 minutes.
